Farming

Advanced chicken coops, beehives and planters that look after themselves, with exact tier speeds, shop prices and how to get the most from them.

Checked against the live server 6 Oct 2026

Farming on Blight Light is built around advanced farm blocks: chicken coops, beehives and planters that never need feeding, watering or babysitting. Place one, and it keeps producing while you are out fighting the Blight.

Everything here comes in three tiers. T1 is the entry level, T3 is the fastest.

Step 2: advanced chicken coops#

Place the coop like a normal chicken coop and raise chickens in it the usual Rust way. Every chicken that hatches in an advanced coop gets that coop's boost.

  • Hunger, thirst, love and sunlight stay locked at 100%. You never feed, water or pet them.
  • The coop still holds the normal 4 chickens.
  • The tier only changes how often each chicken lays an egg:
Tier One egg every
T1 5 to 6.25 minutes
T2 4 to 5 minutes
T3 2.67 to 3.33 minutes (about 2 min 40 s to 3 min 20 s)

Tip: Eggs are a key ingredient for Cooking. Scrambled eggs, pancakes, packed lunches, sponge cake and more all need them.

Step 3: advanced beehives#

Advanced beehives hold ideal conditions all the time. They do not care if they are outside, and temperature and humidity are held at the perfect level for them.

Tier Production speed Honeycomb per cycle
T1 80% of a normal hive 2 (same as normal)
T2 100% of a normal hive 2 (same as normal)
T3 150% of a normal hive 3 (50% more)

Note: A T1 hive is a little slower than a perfectly placed normal hive. What you pay for is zero upkeep. The T3 hive is the one that clearly out-produces a normal hive.

Tip: Jar of Honey is one of the three ingredients in the M16A2 recipe. See Crafting.

Step 4: advanced planters#

Advanced planters need no water, no light and no temperature care. Plant seeds as normal and they grow on their own.

Tier Growth speed
T1 80% of a plant in perfect conditions
T2 100% of a plant in perfect conditions
T3 150% of a plant in perfect conditions
  • Small and large planters of the same tier grow at the same speed. The large one simply holds more plants.
  • Every G (growth) gene on a plant adds another 25% of normal speed on top of the planter's tier. For example, a plant with two G genes grows at 130% in a T1 planter and 200% in a T3 planter. Good genes and a T3 planter stack.
  • Ripe crops stop aging. A ripe plant waits for you and does not wither, so you can log off without losing your harvest.

Tip: Grow pumpkins, potatoes and corn. They are ingredients in several Cooking recipes, such as Horse Feed and Packed Lunch.

Tips#

  • Build your farm indoors. None of the advanced blocks need sunlight or open sky, so they are safe inside your walls.
  • Buy the tier you will keep. A T3 block costs less than buying T1, T2 and T3 one after another.
  • Chickens, honey and crops feed the rest of the game. Eggs and crops go into meals (Cooking), and honey goes into gun crafting (Crafting).
