Quarries and pump jacks on Blight Light are virtual. They do not stand in your base and nobody can raid them. They live in a menu, you open that menu from anywhere, and they dig for you every minute while you play.
At a glance#
| Command | /qr (also /quarry, /quarries, /vq, /virtualquarry, /virtualquarries) |
| To place one | 1 survey charge, plus 1 Mining Quarry or 1 Pump Jack item |
| Fuel | Diesel Fuel: one every 5 minutes |
| Your limit | 2 quarries and 1 pump jack |
| Upgrade levels | 2 |
| Sharing | Teammates only |
| Wipe | Removed on a full (force) wipe |
Step 1: get the parts#
You need two things: a Mining Quarry or Pump Jack item, and survey charges.
Mining Quarry and Pump Jack items are rare. Where they come from:
| Source | Mining Quarry | Pump Jack |
|---|---|---|
| Elite crates | 5% | 5% |
| Military crates | 0.5% | 0.5% |
| The Pirate Ship's locked crate | 1% | 1% |
| Diamond VIP kit | 1 | 1 |
See World Events for the Pirate Ship and VIP for the kit.
Survey charges are easier. Craft them the normal way, or loot them:
| Source | Chance | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Basic crates | 30% | Varies |
| The Pirate Ship's locked crate | Always | Varies |
| Hard dungeon loot box | 25% | 2 to 6 |
| Impossible dungeon loot box | 30% | 5 to 12 |
| Nightmare dungeon loot box | 35% | 8 to 20 |
| Raidable base loot | Included in the base loot table | Varies |
See Dungeons and Raidable Bases.
Step 2: survey for a deposit#
- Type
/qrand choose to place a new quarry. - Pick the survey type (X1 SURVEY CHARGE), then press SEARCH. Each search uses one survey charge from your inventory.
- There is a 75% chance to find a deposit. If you find nothing, the charge is still used. Search again.
- Most deposits are quarry deposits. About 1 in 6 finds is a pump jack (oil) deposit instead.
Note: Do not throw survey charges on the ground. The server hands the charge back and tells you to use
/qrinstead.
Step 3: check what the deposit gives#
The menu shows the deposit's resources before you commit. Each number is rolled once when you find the deposit and stays with that quarry for good.
Quarry deposit
| Resource | Amount per minute | How often you get it |
|---|---|---|
| High Quality Metal ore | 30 to 48 | Always |
| Sulfur ore | 15 to 30.5 | About half of deposits |
Pump jack deposit
| Resource | Amount per minute | How often you get it |
|---|---|---|
| Crude oil | 40 to 60 | Always |
Note: High Quality Metal ore and sulfur ore are the only quarry outputs, and crude oil is the only pump jack output.
Tip: Don't like the roll? Search again before you place. A new search replaces the old result, and you only spend the quarry item when you actually place.
Step 4: place it and switch it on#
- Place the quarry from the menu. This uses your Mining Quarry (or Pump Jack) item.
- Click OPEN FUEL CONTAINER and add Diesel Fuel. It burns one barrel every 5 minutes (12 an hour). The fuel box has 6 slots.
- Click CHANGE ENGINE STATUS to start it.
- Resources pile up in the resource container. Click OPEN RESOURCE CONTAINER to collect them. At level 1 it holds 6 stacks.
Both containers are private: only you (and anyone you share with) can see them.
Warning: A quarry switches itself off when it runs out of fuel or when the resource container is full. It does not restart on its own. Refuel it or empty it, then click CHANGE ENGINE STATUS again.
Upgrades#
Each quarry and pump jack has two levels.
| Level | Storage | Output | Fuel use | Cost to reach it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 6 slots | x1.0 | x1.0 | Free when placed |
| 2 (quarry) | 9 slots | x1.2 | x1.0 | 7,000 Wood + 5,000 Stone |
| 2 (pump jack) | 9 slots | x1.2 | x1.0 | 14,000 Wood + 10,000 Stone |
Open the quarry, go to UPGRADES and press PURCHASE FOR ITEMS.
Sharing with your team#
- Open a quarry and add a player to give them access. You can also add someone to all your quarries at once.
- You can only share with teammates.
- Players you share with can open the fuel and resource containers, start and stop the engine, and pay for upgrades.
- If the owner stays offline for more than 3 days, shared members are removed automatically.
Removing a quarry#
Only the owner can remove a quarry. Hold Sprint while you click remove, or the menu will ask you to.
Removing a quarry gives you back the Mining Quarry (or Pump Jack) item, and everything left in its fuel and resource containers goes into your inventory. You do not get the upgrade materials back.
Limits#
| Type | How many you can own |
|---|---|
| Quarries | 2 |
| Pump jacks | 1 |
The quarry menu shows your personal limit, so check it there if your rank is different.
Tips#
- Fuel is the real cost. A quarry burns 12 Diesel Fuel an hour. Fill the fuel box before you log off.
- Empty the output often. The resource container only holds 6 stacks (9 at level 2). When it is full the quarry stops until you empty it and start it again.
- Upgrade your best deposit first. Level 2 adds 20% output and 3 slots, so it pays off most on a high-roll deposit.
- Turn the stone and ore into something useful with upgraded furnaces. See Industry.
