This page covers the two machines every base ends up needing: something to smelt and something to recycle. On Blight Light you can upgrade both, and the upgrades stay with the machine.
At a glance#
| Oven upgrades | 4 stats, 2 levels each, paid in Chimera Coins (CC) |
| Cost to max one oven | 1,200 CC |
| Recycler levels | 4 (3 upgrades), paid in scrap or Chimera Coins (CC) |
| Cost to max one recycler | 14,000 scrap or 17,500 CC |
| Buy a recycler | Shop (10,000 CC), /buyrecycler or /buyindustrialrecycler |
Furnace and refinery upgrades#
Which ovens can be upgraded#
Furnace, Large Furnace, Electric Furnace, both industrial furnaces, Legacy Furnace, Campfire, Barbeque and Small Oil Refinery.
How to upgrade#
- Open the oven.
- Click the green UPGRADE button next to the oven's inventory.
- Pick the stat you want and pay. The status panel shows each stat's current level.
Upgrades are paid in Chimera Coins (CC) straight from your balance.
The four stats#
Each stat is upgraded on its own and has two levels.
| Stat | What it does | Level 1 | Level 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Smelting speed | Items cook faster | 2x for 100 CC | 3x for 200 CC |
| Resource output | More product from each item, for example more metal fragments per metal ore | 2x for 100 CC | 3x for 200 CC |
| Charcoal multiplier | More charcoal from each piece of wood burned | 2x for 100 CC | 3x for 200 CC |
| Fuel speed | Wood burns faster | 2x for 100 CC | 3x for 200 CC |
Maxing all four stats on one oven costs 1,200 CC.
Tip: Upgrade Resource output first. At level 2 every ore gives three times the product, which is like tripling your mining.
Note: Faster smelting also burns fuel faster, in step with the speed. You use the same wood per ore, you just finish sooner. Fuel speed only makes wood burn faster, so buy it when you want charcoal quicker, not to save wood.
Handy extras#
- Auto split added ores: ores you drop in spread across the slots by themselves.
- Auto add fuel: when you add ore, the oven pulls just enough wood (or other fuel) from your inventory to finish the job.
- Both are toggles in the OPTIONS part of the oven's status panel.
- Upgrades are kept when you pick the oven up. Move your base without losing them.
- You and your teammates can upgrade an oven, and only you and your team can switch it on and off.
Mixing table#
Mixing tables get a speed upgrade too, paid in CC. Each level cuts the mixing time:
| Level | Mixing time | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 10% shorter | 100 CC |
| 2 | 30% shorter | 300 CC |
| 3 | 50% shorter (half the time) | 500 CC |
Recyclers#
Getting your own recycler#
There are three ways to own a recycler:
| Recycler | How to get it | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Recycler | Chimera Coin shop, SPECIALITEMS tab (/shop or /mshop) |
10,000 CC |
| Standard Recycler | Type /buyrecycler |
1,000 scrap, 50 sheet metal, 100 High Quality Metal, 500 metal fragments |
| Industrial Recycler | Type /buyindustrialrecycler |
2,000 scrap, 100 sheet metal, 200 High Quality Metal, 1,000 metal fragments |
- You can own 1 Standard and 1 Industrial recycler from the commands at a time.
- The Industrial Recycler comes with its own input and output boxes fitted with industrial adapters. Buttons on the recycler screen open the input and output boxes, or you can hook conveyors to the adapters and the recycler feeds and empties itself.
- To move the shop Recycler, open it and press PICKUP. The owner, or anyone authorised on the tool cupboard, can pick it up.
- The Gold VIP rank lists a personal recycler as one of its perks.
Recycler levels#
Open a player-placed recycler, such as your own, and an UPGRADES panel appears beside it. Each level makes it chew through items faster and improves its bonus outputs.
| Level | Stack per tick | Bonus output chance | Cost to reach this level |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 15% | x0.60 | Free |
| 2 | 20% | x0.75 | 2,000 scrap or 2,500 CC |
| 3 | 25% | x0.90 | 4,000 scrap or 5,000 CC |
| 4 (max) | 30% | x1.00 | 8,000 scrap or 10,000 CC |
- Stack per tick: each tick (every 5 seconds) the recycler takes that share of an item's full stack size. At 30% it gets through a big pile roughly twice as fast as at 15%.
- Bonus output chance: multiplies the chance of the bonus outputs listed below.
- You pay with either scrap or Chimera Coins, not both. The coin button reads "RP", but it charges CC.
- Public recyclers at monuments have no owner, so they always run at level 1.
Warning: A recycler's level is not saved when you pick it up. Place it where it will stay before you upgrade it.
Bonus outputs#
Some items give extra loot when recycled. The chance is multiplied by the recycler's level (x0.60 at level 1, x1.00 at level 4). Bonus outputs also work in public monument recyclers, at the level 1 rate.
| Item you recycle | What you get | Base chance |
|---|---|---|
| High Quality Metal | 50 to 100 metal fragments per bar | 100% |
| Assault Rifle | Its normal recycle output, plus 1 to 2 tech trash and 30 to 70 scrap | 100% each |
Warning: Each High Quality Metal bar is used up whether or not its roll succeeds. On a level 1 recycler about 60% of bars turn into fragments and the rest give nothing. On level 4 every bar pays out, so recycle High Quality Metal on a maxed recycler.
Note: Salvaged Axes and Large Wood Boxes cannot be recycled.
Other ways to recycle faster#
- Your skills add to recycling: Recycler Overdrive (Scavenger path) gives up to 20% more from every item, and the Scientist's Reclaimer adds more on top. See Progression.
Tips#
- Smelt what your quarries dig. Quarries hand you raw ore. Run it through a furnace with Resource output at level 2 and every ore gives three times the product.
- Level the recycler you use most. Taking one recycler from level 1 to level 4 costs 14,000 scrap in total, and level 4 gets through piles twice as fast as level 1.
- Upgrade the ovens you keep. Upgrades stay with the oven when you pick it up, so a maxed furnace moves with you.
